FKgroup founding member of SISEI
From technical textiles to aerospace composites
FKgroup joins SISEI – Seriana Institute for Space Exploration & Innovation – as a founding member. SISEI is an association dedicated to promoting technological innovation and supporting the development of the space economy in the Val Seriana region.
Through this initiative, Sergio Gori and Paolo Cattini, CEOs of FKgroup, officially join the association’s board, contributing their industrial expertise and strategic vision.
Their appointment marks an important step in strengthening the dialogue between manufacturing, research, and the emerging opportunities offered by the space sector. It also reflects FKgroup’s concrete commitment to supporting collaborative pathways oriented toward innovation and the future of the territory.
A hub for space innovation in the heart of Val Seriana
The idea of a space-focused initiative emerging within the valleys of Bergamo is far from a trivial detail. This is precisely the strength of SISEI: bringing advanced research, cutting-edge technologies, and new collaborative models to a historic area with strong industrial roots and a deep sense of community.
SISEI is the first Social Enterprise Association, therefore non-profit,in the province of Bergamo. Based in Leffe, it was founded through an initiative of the Municipality of Gandino and Mars Planet Technologies.
The concept is both simple and visionary: creating a place where local industry, institutions, researchers, and young talents can work together on what, until recently, seemed light-years away from the territory.
The association operates as an incubator able to connect diverse supply chains and expertise, from advanced manufacturing to robotics, from artificial intelligence to extended reality, all the way to space architecture and analog missions.
At the same time, it engages traditional local companies, offering them the opportunity to approach high-potential sectors and reinterpret their established skills through an innovative lens.
This blend of industrial tradition and technological future is what makes the project unique. In Val Seriana, this is more than a space-focused center: it is a development model capable of energizing the region and integrating it into an international network of excellence.

The vision: Seriana Space Valley
One of SISEI’s most ambitious initiatives is the Seriana Space Valley, a project aimed at transforming Val Seriana into an international hub dedicated to space technologies and applications. Here, innovation, education, and industry coexist within an integrated ecosystem.
The space economy is a rapidly expanding sector. Leading global analyses forecast significant growth in the coming years, with estimates approaching the one-trillion-dollar threshold.
At the same time, the Bergamo region faces a familiar challenge: young people seeking opportunities elsewhere.
The Seriana Space Valley aims to provide a concrete response, enhancing local expertise in mechanics, advanced materials, electronics, and telecommunications, fields with direct applications in the space industry and with the potential to generate new development trajectories for local businesses.
A model that unites companies, territory, and education
SISEI proposes an innovative framework involving companies, schools, institutions, and research centers. Its key activities include:
1. A simulation center for space exploration
2. Technical and scientific training programs
3. Business consulting services
4. Outreach and dissemination initiatives
5. International collaborations, including one with the Swiss Institute for Disruptive Innovation
The association is led by science journalist Eugenio Sorrentino. Its board includes leading figures in the aerospace and industrial sectors, while the Scientific Committee features Antonio Del Mastro, Roberto Loda, Sergio Gori, Michele Colombi, and Alberto Ciccalè.
FKgroup and SISEI
a strategic alliance for the space sector
FKgroup’s entry into the board further strengthens SISEI’s network of expertise. It represents a step that supports the growth of an innovative district capable of bringing together industry, research, and education within a shared vision. This collaboration looks ahead to the future of the Italian space economy, beginning in Val Seriana and opening the territory to new opportunities both nationally and internationally.
